mr. A.M. van Riemsdijk

Annette Van Riemsdijk has a distinguished record in ADR practice as a solicitor (since 1988) and as a mediator (since 1993). She has lectured extensively on civil law matters, ADR (especially Mediation and MedArb) and settlement techniques. Since 2001 she acts as an independent lawyer-mediator. Before then she was an associate of Pot & Jonker, Haarlem (1988 - 1992) and of CMS Derks Star Busmann (CameronMckenna), Utrecht, (1992 - 2001).

Since 1993 she has been actively involved in ADR as a party appointed mediator, fact finder, chairman, counsel and expert in various cases. She has conducted more than 1250 mediations and has done even more advisory work. Subject matter has included insurance, competition, art, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, employee disputes, boardroom disputes, sports, charities, family matters and many others. She has consistently ranked at the top of the lists of Mediators in the Netherlands.

She took Mediation training in 1992/93 and was registered by VFAS in 1993 and by NMI in 1995. Since 1997 she is a member of the IMFO trainers team. She trains lawyers to handle ADR under the authority of the Dutch bar association. She is a member of NVMA (lawyers engaged in ADR) in the Netherlands, which she also boarded for 3 years.
She has spoken widely on Mediation for (and with) several national and international organisations such as the Dutch bar organisation, the Union International des Avocats (UIA),the IBA, the IACCM, the European Forum of Family mediators, the Unctad, European Commission, AAA, BBMC and others.

She often appears in the media, interviewed over conflicts and conflict resolving methods. She was a member of several working groups to consider implementation of ADR in the Dutch society. Reports of these groups led to strong increase in the use of ADR.
Since 1996 she is a member of the board of the Netherlands Mediation Institute NMI, responsible for communication and international affairs. With this board she was responsible for implementing a quality assurance system for mediation and mediators in the Netherlands. She is chairman international affairs of the NMI since October 2003 and Advisory Council of the Dutch ADR Magazine.
